How to Stay Healed After Prayer

Psalm 41:3

Good news: God still heals people miraculously through prayer! I have seen it dozens and dozens of times either by my prayers or the prayers of others. This healing can be in your body (including brain), in your soul (including the mind–conscious thoughts–and the heart–subconscious thoughts), and in your spirit (the energy that animates your body).

Less good news: Sometimes, a person who was supernaturally healed has to protect his or her healing until it sticks. Otherwise, sickness symptoms can return for a myriad of reasons including demonic temptation and/or nervous system habits.

Better news: If you have received supernatural healing, here are six tried-and-true ways to protect your healing. It’s never too late to start!

Six steps to staying healed

  1. Retell your healing testimony to yourself and others. Write down your symptoms, tests, and analysis of your pre-prayer and your post-prayer states. Be specific. Remind yourself out loud, everyday until one day, you find yourself saying to yourself, “Of course, I’m healed. This is my new normal.”
  2. Declare scriptures about God’s willingness to heal. Speak scriptures out loud with attitude about how God heals until one day, you find yourself saying to yourself, “Of course, God heals. That’s his normal state.” Try this list of 50, this list of 35, or this list of 20.
  3. Give thanks to God for your healing. Here are 35 reasons why thanksgiving and praise can help you. Try, “Thank you God for healing me of _______. I praise you for your willingness and ability to heal because you are love and you love me.”
  4. Declare the Kingdom of Heaven is upon you. Yeshua said that you can tell you are in a Heaven-bubble when healing happens. Other scriptures about the Kingdom of Heaven describe that when it is upon you, God’s will happens. Try asking God to show you in your mind what the Kingdom of Heaven coming upon you looks like, and journal what you see when you close your eyes.
  5. Reject words or sensations that feel like your pre-prayer state. You can do this by saying, “I reject these fake symptoms, in Yeshua’s name! I experienced God’s healing and the enemy cannot take it away from me!” Or you can try, “I command my nervous system to forget what pain felt like in this area. I am no longer injured and I no longer need to feel pain.”
  6. Just say NO to doubt, unbelief, and fear. Learn to recognize doubt (“Did God really heal me?”), unbelief (“God no longer does miracles”), and fear (“What if the symptoms come back?”) Thoughts like this come from demons, as they are not our natural state when we are healthy. When you hear them, remember that not all thoughts come from you so you can send away thoughts you don’t like. Try yelling with gusto, “I command this spirit of doubt to get out of my mind and go to the cross of Yeshua, right now!” Rinse and repeat until it works.
