40 Days of Faith – Day 30 | Open for Business

The Status

On Day 30 of our #40daysoffaith adventure moving from MD to CO on the word of God, God urged me to sign up for speaker guilds and bureaus in the area as a motivational speaker. After that, I got another, more unexpected idea to pray the bills.

After I inquired at several speaker bureaus (who match events to speakers for a fee), and signed up for an online speaker database, I thought to myself, “Even if I’m the greatest speaker in the world, building a business like this takes time.” Unfortunately, I feel like I’m racing against a ticking clock called, “My last Army paycheck arrives March 1st.”

That’s when I felt an urge to follow up on an idea that a friend of mine and I laughingly bring up from time to time: to put out Christian guided meditations as a more powerful alternative to some spiritual practices available on AirBnB experiences or EventBrite events.

Today, I thought, “Why not?! The worst that can happen is that I help people meet with God online.”

I am excited to introduce a service-offering of guided meditation events online! The first one (scheduled for February 9th) will be for Christians, but I plan on adding meditations for women, Veterans, and hurting people as well. I hope to host two meditations a week, rotating through the four populations, so that each population gets a new meditation every two weeks.

They are around $7 a pop ($5 for me, the rest for EventBrite) for a 30-minute guided meditation on Zoom that is designed by the Holy Spirit for that specific audience. I hope to have recordings that participants can reaccess whenever they want to for a year; I just gotta sort out the technology of it all.

Leading guided meditations may not be the ultimate goal of my speaker, author, influencer career, but it can serve as a “cash cow” to pay my bills so that I have room to grow the career God wants me to grow. And it sounds fun! As long as I am doing my best to work at what God is calling me to do, God will provide.
