Day 8 of our #40daysoffaith adventure moving from MD to CO on the word of God started out at 0600, when the Cracker Barrel (where we boondocked for the night) opened up and started making noise. We spent most of the morning just trying to get organized. Where were the shoes? The toothbrushes? How would we do dishes when we are mostly-dry-camping?
We eventually got out the door and into the Cracker Barrel store and then restaurant. We later made it to Colonial Williamsburg, our first waypoint. I got to stare at the table where I first fell in love with this town over 20 years ago, and reminisce about all that has happened since then. It was worth the drive.
When we got back on the road, my kid took a three hour nap in her car seat—this gave me hope that our daily schedule might actually work! On the downside, anytime she is awake, she asks to watch TV, since she watched it sooo much the last two weeks while we prepared for our move. Bringing limits back into her routine is the new name of the game.
While she was asleep, we charged again and made it to Garner, NC. Tomorrow, we hope to see a museum in Raleigh, right after finding a place to shower, get groceries, and maybe do laundry. We are more in a groove than yesterday and I look forward to seeing what God is going to do through this time.
The Prayer
God, help us to get into our new rhythms, especially my daughter whose whole world has turned upside down. Help us with the logistics and the wisdom to make the best of this special time together. Be with us, always. So be it—amen.
The Challenge
What is your #40daysoffaith adventure and how did Day 5 go? What does fear, doubt, or unbelief look or feel like to you?
