This is the supporting blog to the YouTube video called “Eye-Opening Meditation with God “The Hallway” | Guided Christian Meditation for the Marketplace” recorded on 23 February 2023, and available at https://youtu.be/D7PnlHoYKsw. Although this blog has the notes from which I made the video, the video has a lot more detail than this blog about each section, so I invite you to watch it when you get a chance!
Agenda
Welcome to Guided Christian Meditation for the Marketplace! I’m your facilitator, Tenay Benes.
For the first few minutes, I will talk you through today’s agenda, share about me as your facilitator, give guidelines for this meditation, share another Biblical basis for meditation, explain how to participate in the meditation, bring you into a grounding technique to prepare you for the meditation, invite the Holy Spirit to lead the meditation, and then facilitate your meditation for the last 30 minutes.
About Your Facilitator
I am a speaker, author, and influencer seeking to inspire others into healing by sharing my personal story of overcoming complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD).
I got C-PTSD because I was born into a dysfunctional family and later became a combat Veteran who, at the height of my PTSD experience, acquired a 70% service-connected disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs. That’s when I dove into my healing journey head-first and participated in over 40 PTSD therapies (both secular and spiritual) to become the thriving daughter of God, wife & mother, Army Reserve Officer and entrepreneur I am today.
If you want to know more about my story, you can read my blog at tenaybenes.com/about
One of the most beneficial therapies I experienced was Guided Christian Meditation, which is why I’m so passionate about offering this service to you online.
Today’s meditation will focus on helping people in the marketplace (whether in government, industry, or academia) get guidance on their work decisions by connecting with God, themselves, and their workplace in a more holistic and flexible way so that your actions there will be more successful for the Kingdom of Heaven.
Guidelines
God is in charge of this meditation, I am only a facilitator – if you experience the desire to divert your meditation to another topic or tempo, please do so! In fact, that’s the ideal scenario. You can come back to the video whenever you want to.
I give all instructions up front so that you can stay in a meditative state as long as you want at the end of this video; feel free to turn off the video early, or consider turning off auto-play of the next video, in order to guard the connection between you, yourself, and God.
As you walk through the meditation, allow any emotions that come up to flow through your body like a wave through the ocean. Releasing pent-up emotions to God (through crying, wailing, yelling, and shaking) is one of the primary goals of meeting with God; otherwise, I promise it’ll come out in some way in your life that may be less ideal–like through chronic illness in your body, soul, or spirit.
Below, you will see a link to the supporting to my blog about 32 grounding techniques, a link to my blog about how to stay healed, and a link to my video called “Make the Most of Your Mediation”, which gives you instructions for how to process your meditation.
Biblical Basis
There are many scriptures that describe how meditation transforms us into God’s perfect design for us. Today, I will share the meaning of the word “meditation” from Bible Hub.
G1761. enthumesis: deliberation, pondering, pl. thoughts; literally, inner-passion, the emotional force driving meditation and reflection (see G1771/énnoia on their “underlying conception”); emphasizes the passionate idea lodged within, i.e. the inner affections (emotions) driving the reasoning (thought process). https://strongsnumbers.com/greek2/1761.htm; From G1760/enthymeomai (from G1722/en, “in a state or condition,” intensifying G2372/thymós, “passionate response”) – properly, in a passionate frame of mind, easily agitated or quickly moved by strong, provoking impulses; 7 times in various forms
H1900. haguth: meditation, musing From G1897/hagah: moan, growl, utter, speak, muse ; 31 times in various forms
How to Meditate
When we invite the Holy Spirit to sanctify the movie-screen-of-our-minds (our imagination), we can rely on the faith-of-a-mustard-seed that God will help us receive communication and understanding from Heaven.
As a response to my prompts, you may see spontaneous images or shorts appear, hear spontaneous thoughts in your mind or emotions in your heart, experience a spontaneous knowing or prompting to do something in your heart or gut, or sense spontaneous sensations in your body (heat, chills, heaviness, lightness, pain, fragrances, and tastes). For now, don’t try to judge them or control them; just pursue the peace and trust God to make it happen and to eventually give you clarity on what it means. You can watch my video “Make the Most of Your Meditation” to process your meditation to gain understanding.
If you feel like you were in the middle of a scene but you are interrupted and get drawn out of it, you can bring yourself back to that scene by remembering it and asking God to continue the conversation, whenever you want.
Prayer
