I want to introduce you to my very good friend, Serena Colson. She is the owner of Playful Poppies Learning Co, an eclectic mix of parenting coaching, teacher education, and my-kid-and-me yoga classes.
Serena has a master’s degree in early childhood education and worked in several day cares before opening her own business to promote family involvement in early childhood education. She teaches parents how to guide their kids as they discover how to read, count, learn, play, and connect.
As for her personality, she’s a research nerd and stays on top of what the academics are discovering. She loves yoga and is a certified instructor. She has the most contagious laugh you have ever heard. She has never met a person she didn’t look at with kindness in her eyes. She raises chickens and ducks.
I will always be thankful to Serena because she helped me learn how to play with my baby. Our baby-and-me yoga sessions were not at all what I expected: in other classes, the sessions were mostly about the mom and very little about the baby. But Serena, who absolutely adores all children everywhere, made the sessions about equipping new parents with the tools to help their babies move their bodies, laugh, learn, and connect. I enjoyed her Zoom classes so much that I hired her as a private yoga coach to do additional Zoom baby-and-me yoga sessions customized to my own fitness journey and my baby’s ever-changing temperament. The investment was worth every penny!
If you’re near Tacoma, Washington, you should check out her classes in person. If you’re not, you should check out her Zoom classes. You won’t be disappointed!
