40 Days of Faith – Day 23 | Physical Reverberations

I AM healing you,”
replied God.

The Status

Day 23 of our #40daysoffaith adventure moving from MD to CO on the word of God was our first “work day” in Colorado. My husband and I shared child-care and computer work in 4-hour blocks between us. We also got to enjoy all three meals together in our camper (pictured), but when my blood pressure went through the roof after dinner, we got to praying.

Since my big inner healing event three days ago, I’ve been struggling with high blood pressure headaches, which is surprising since I overcame hypertension when I was pregnant 3 years ago! Back then, I had developed gestational hypertension that led to me crawling on the floor (to keep my head below my heart) because it hurt so bad to stand up. A few weeks into this misery, a friend called me out of the blue to share a God Story about successful healing prayer. In that moment, I knew God was about to perform an encore with me through her! She prayed for me, and the hypertension disappeared in that very hour—until now.

So what happened that it came back?!

This is what my husband and I asked God last night. I heard God say that the big trauma-healing I just experienced caused a rewiring of my brain; since traumatic memories are always linked with some part of our physiology, healing the memories also changes our physiology.

“Please heal me, then, Lord,” I said. “I AM healing you,” replied God. “Your brain is rewiring, and you will be well in two days. Until then, take a break, avoid salt, and drink water.”

Honestly, that wasn’t the answer I wanted to hear, so I called the friend whose prayers healed my hypertension three years ago. When she prayed, she said, “Jesus says he is wrapping a spa robe around you. You are to relax for the next 48 hours, take a load off, and enjoy your family. After that, you will be fine.”

Those instructions sounded familiar, except that I hadn’t told her anything about what God had told me in my own prayers.

The Takeaway

The idea of a prophecy being confirmed by another supernatural sign (either a second prophecy by mouth, or by scripture, or a miracle, or some other spiritual gift) appears in 2nd Peter as well as in other places—

“And we have the more-solid prophetic word onto which you do well to hold…knowing that any prophecy of Scripture was not created-by-the-prophet with a specific-interpretation; for prophecy was not ever brought-forth by-the-will of man, but being-carried by the Holy Spirit, God talked from men.” 2 Peter 1:19-21 (from the Interlinear)

The author is sharing how a prophecy in Scripture was then made “more solid”—AKA confirmed—by another prophecy they heard from the audible voice of God, and this confirmation of one prophecy by another allows them to hold onto them as truth before they see them fulfilled.

In the same way, I can then accept what I heard from God (about waiting it out for two data) as truth because the prophetic word was confirmed by another prophetic word from someone else.

The Prayer

God, thank you for healing me from hypertension back then, and for healing me, again. I stand on your promise to heal me fully in two days. Until then, I will do the things you’ve asked me to do. Amen.

The Challenge

What is your #40daysoffaith adventure and how did Day 22 go? What is a sign that God is confirming his promises to you?
