“…God has spoken and this housing hurdle has been jumped—for now.”

Day 27 of our #40daysoffaith adventure moving from MD to CO on the word of God started at 4 a.m. with God putting a new neighbor on my heart. By 8 a.m., he was at our door, wanting to speak with us. He told us we had gained the favor of the “long-termers” of the RV park and recommended we put in an application right away to rent a long-term RV spot through the winter. This was apparently a big deal, and we moved forward with his recommendation.
Moving to Colorado without any firm housing is—for me—the hardest part of this trip, so far. (Not having a good idea about our future income is a close second, but who’s counting?) Especially since the Denver area housing market is incredibly difficult for renters or buyers. That may be why several people offered us help to find housing without us even asking. First, an acquaintance from college (over 20 years ago) offered us her rental studio in Denver because she happens to be leaving the state—but God said no. Then, an acquaintance at the new church we are visiting told us about rentals from her previous landlord-but God again said no. Weirdly, staying at this RV park has been the only option presented to us that God is allowing us to accept.
Not only that, but we seem to have God’s favor in it. For example, another neighbor recently told me by the nightly campfire, “If you live this full-time RV life, you’ll realize that it can be hard to get a long-term spot. There are always wait-lists and you have to be recommended by the neighbors to get accepted into a park.” Wow, sounds more cut-throat than an HOA! 🤣
But it seems like God has spoken and this housing hurdle has been jumped—for now.
The Takeaway
“I will go before you and adorn and make straight the copper gates, I will break-into-pieces the cut bars of iron. And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places that you-may-know that I, Yahweh, who call you by name am the God of Israel.” Isaiah 45:2-3 (from the Interlinear)
Sometimes, God has very specific plans about how he/she wants to get something done, so God invites a person to co-labor with him/her in the work. God says he/she will do the God-part (preparing the way) so that the human can do the human-part (making free-will choices in favor of God’s plan).
That’s what seemed to happen today: God gave us favor with the people in this place, and getting to stay here (while we wait on God) was as easy as apple pie.
The Prayer
God, I feel like I’m starting to be able to predict your ways…and I really didn’t want to spend more than two weeks in this tiny RV. However, I choose to trust that you have a really good reason for moving us here, in this way. Please make our reward worth the difficulty of our obedience. Amen.
The Challenge
What is your #40daysoffaith adventure and how did Day 27 go? What is something God has asked you to do that you don’t want to do but will?
