“God, I don’t always like your ways, but I LOVE your results.”

The Status
On Day 34 of our #40daysoffaith adventure moving from MD to CO on the word of God, my husband and I moved our camper to its new, long term site in the RV park, where we celebrated our kissaversary.
Four years ago, this day, we kissed at God’s direction. It was a shock to both of us that we had apparently fallen in love during our ten-month friendship, but God said he/she loved us together. We cast aside our other marriage prophecies and chose each other, instead. That’s how we learned that we are not slaves to prophecy; God wants mature sons and daughters who freely choose their paths.
Four years later, we are pursuing yet another life-altering prophecy together: the prophecy to go west and receive land from God “full of Rockies and trees as far as the eye can see”. And—in good ol’ God fashion—we are currently in a season of being in the opposite state.
The Takeaway
According to our experience, as soon as God gives us a prophecy, we find ourselves in the opposite state. I’ve learned that when we can trust God in this opposite state, then we can receive the prophesied state without it ruining us. This concept is referenced in Philippians 4—

I have learned how to be content when God prophesied I would be married, and then I was single for another 3.5 years. But once I got married, I learned how to be content in marriage, too. I have learned how to be content when God prophesied I would have a healthy baby, and then the doctors said I was not pregnant and most likely infertile. But once I had a baby, I learned how to be content in motherhood, too. I have learned how to be content when God prophesied I would have a beautiful marriage, and then it went into turmoil for a few years due to unresolved sexual trauma. But as it is becoming a wholly intimate marriage, I am learning how to be content in a beautiful marriage, too.
So… when God prophesied we would have lots of land and a house in which to plant my family, and then we moved into a tiny RV in an RV park, what do you think will happen next?
The Prayer
God, I don’t always like your ways, but I LOVE your results. So I’m agreeing with you that this season is important for our family to be able to receive your good gifts without them ruining us. Do what you came to do in us. Amen.
The Challenge
What is your #40daysoffaith adventure and how did Day 34 go? In what area might you be experiencing the opposite state of a prophecy?
