I began to breathe a sigh of relief on Day 5 of our #40daysoffaith adventure moving from MD to CO on the word of God, when my husband safely cut our kitten out of the sofa, where she was hiding from the movers. (Can’t make this stuff up.) After that crisis was averted, I played with my daughter in her empty bedroom until we waved “bye-bye” to the moving truck.
That’s when the tears began to flow again, so my husband began to play “Haven’t Seen It Yet” by Danny Gokey on his phone for all of us to hear. As the lyrics reminded me that God “has the solution before we have a problem”, my tears began to wash more of my fears and unbelief away.
That’s the thing with faith journeys: choosing to send doubt and unbelief away BEFORE you see God’s promise or prophecy fulfilled grows your faith MORE than just seeing God’s promise or prophecy fulfilled. This is one reason why God invites us to WAIT on his timing: to get the most bang for our buck.
As for my amazing husband, he had his own ups and downs today, because he is on his own faith journey. As he is more blessed by signs than I am, he was particularly encouraged that the U-haul we picked up today had an ad for Colorado on the side of the truck, and was brand-spanking-new (to keep his family safe on the road). He loved it so much, #wetookapic. By the evening, we were both excited that we were one step closer to finishing this faith-adventure well than we were yesterday.
The Prayer
God, wash my heart of fear—fear that masquerades as wisdom or logic but is actually doubt or unbelief. Help me remember the testimony of your goodness and faithfulness in my life. Help me enjoy this faith journey. So be it—amen.
The Challenge
What is your #40daysoffaith adventure and how did Day 5 go? What does fear, doubt, or unbelief look or feel like to you?
